Tam Tams, music, and making noise! This program is inspired by young children’s innate desire to explore sound, melody, and rhythm using a wide variety of objects – using both loose parts and more conventional instruments such as drums and small stringed instruments. Together we will find music in chaos, share child-led jams, and let your young child hear, see, and explore firsthand the connection between music and play!
Our approach to music and sound exploration is informed by our understanding of critical pedagogy, children’s’ emergent learning and, as always, play. We look to our play spaces to inspire and inform us, acting as a third teacher alongside the children and playworker, as we discover the sounds and music all around us.
The program will be led by Cameron MacLean, an L&M playworker and professional musician.
Our Noise Club will be meeting outside for the spring session. The indoor meeting place is indicated in italics below.
